This is your official welcome to the CDT family.

The CDT Preschool program focuses on creating a safe and encouraging environment where students are given a fun and engaging foundation of dance.

Preschoolers have their own special dance rooms at CDT, with props and equipment that enhances their experience within our program.

Parents are welcome to wait in our waiting room, otherwise you get 60 minutes to yourself! (or and hour and a half if they do tumbling!)

Our goal is to help CDT students believe in themselves and achieve anything they set their minds to.

At CDT we nurture each individual students journey, we believe in bringing out each students confidence and helping them find their spark.

Our Team.

The CDT team are all trained in the Preschool program. They are hand picked and we are confident they will give each student their best. We also have assistants training in these classes.

About The Preschooler Program.

The CDT Preschool program incorporates jazz, ballet, tap and musical theatre. You will see a new side of them as we build confidence, co-ordination and imagination in class!

The program encourages the physical, social and emotional development and gives them the foundation working towards their school-aged classes. The exercises delivered are curriculum based working towards achieving goals and most importantly HAVING FUN!

Preschool Program combines a variety of styles of dance to give our dancers a taste of they different style as they are able to choose when they graduate from the preschool program into the pre-junior classes.

We want to give them a strong foundation of dance in a fun, encouraging and positive 1 hour lesson.

Jazz and Hip Hop - movement to popular songs, working on coordination, rhythm, style, jazz kicks, balancing, introduction to jazz technique.

Ballet - engages our dancers into ballet terminology, the foundations of ballet and embrace the love of the art and introduces RAD ballet.

Singing/Musical Theatre - introduces a fun way to acknowledge pitch, rhythm, tune and allows pre-schoolers to engage their memory system to remember lyrics

Tap - is the fun, noisy part of the class where students take part in rhythm, timing and foot coordination with their fun tap shoes on!

During Term 3 and 4 - dancers will be working on their 3 concert routines for the end of year concert. (tap, ballet and jazz)

The minis and rec stream concert is at Camden Civic Centre at the end of November.

Preschool Tumbling - we have an extension class which our dancers love. They develop strength and coordination and practice their rolls, cartwheels, handstands and bridges. Tumbling consists of a variety of role play games engaging muscles and co-ordination for tumbling skills and an introduction to balance, strength, rolls (roley poleys), cartwheels, handstands etc. It's a popular class where children build strength and learn fundamental skills.

No problem at all - please just let us know.

Term One:

Students settle into class, creating bonds with teachers and class members. Basic program is introduced as students are introduced to the variety of styles. Stretching, turn taking and a foundation of dance. Ballet and tap sections of class will introduce the foundation of Glenn wood Tap and RAD Ballet syllabus work

Term Two:

Preschoolers work on achieving travelling skills - skipping, step kicks, step ball change, marches, tap steps, jets. In the jazz portion of the class Preschoolers will learn a routine to perform in the mid year concert. We work on independent skills and build on muscle memory.

Term Three:

Preschoolers begin learning their jazz, tap and ballet end of year concert routines.

They will work on further progressing their skills and practice them independently.

Term Four:

Preschoolers practice remembering sequence of steps as they prepare for the concert.

We work on performing and shapes of steps as we test their knowledge to perform independently and continue progressing their abilities. We introduce a transition to the next program for the students moving up next year.
