Preliminary & Semi-Final Classes 
For all Preliminary and Semi-finals classes, candidates will perform a selection of exercises
from their relevant syllabus (Grade 3, Grade 4 or Grade 5) and free enchaînements as
demonstrated on the day. 
• Preliminary Classes will be performed to Music A for all Grades. 
Semi-final Classes will be performed to Music B for all Grades. 
• Audiences will be permitted in all Preliminary and Semi-final rounds. Tickets are limited,
with no additional tickets available once they have been sold out. Tickets will be made
available via TryBooking (once entries have closed and classes have been assigned). 
A list of semi-finalists will be posted on the RAD Australia website and sent to the nominated
contact for every candidate no later than 8pm on the night of the preliminary round for each
grade. Please contact your studio/RAD Registered Teacher if you have any questions. 
Candidates should bring a copy of their exam report (for the exam grade they are entered into
for the Awards) on semi-finals day. They will be asked to confirm the spelling of their name,
studio/s, dance choice, and eligibility on that day (if selected as finalists). Finalists will be
announced after each class (after a short deliberation, and subject to eligibility checks). If
there is more than one class of semi- finalists per grade, candidates in Class A will need to
return at the conclusion of Class B for announcements and presentations. 
Finals: Saturday 5 April 2025
Finalists will perform the following: 
 RAD syllabus study - candidates choice, performed as a solo. 
 Commissioned Choreography piece - performed as a solo. 
 A short entrance - performed with the candidates  Grade. 
The Commissioned Choreography piece for Grades 3-5 will be approximately 1 minute long.
Filmed footage of this piece will be sent to each finalist shortly after the finalists are
announced. Please note the copyright requirements under the Conditions of Entry. 
• No costumes are required – A dress code will be supplied at a later date  

• Finalists are advised to leave the entire day of the Finals free. Times for stage rehearsals on
the day of the finals will be confirmed approximately 5 days prior.

Prizes 
A Winner, Runner Up and an Encouragement Award will be awarded for each Grade in
2025. 
Cash prizes may be paid directly to the prize winner.

Schedule: TBA after the Closing Date (usually commencing with Grade 3, followed by
Grade 4, then Grade 5)

The Royal Academy of Dance invites students to
participate in the Joan & Monica Halliday Awards
2025, a celebration of dedication, artistry, and
technical skill through the RAD syllabus.
This event is designed to:
 Build confidence in performance situations
 Provide additional opportunities for students to showcase their skills in a supportive environment.
 Establish a pathway for candidates to prepare for international competitions.
 Honour the remarkable contributions of RAD Life Members Joan & Monica Halliday.
Participation is encouraged for students from levels 3 to 5, as the Awards provide invaluable
experience in working with peers and guest teachers.
Students must have completed an eligible exam in 2024, to enter the Awards in 2025.

Candidates receive an event t-shirt as part of their entry. 
Due to product lead times, no changes can be made to t-shirt size after an entry has been
submitted; exchanges for a different size will not be available; and late entries will not
receive a t-shirt. 
Please find below the sizes available for each t-shirt. Size selection will be made as part of
each candidate's entry. 
Unisex Kids Sizes: Kids 8/Kids 10 / Kids 12 / Kids 14 
Ladies Sizes - Ladies 6 / Ladies 8/ Ladies 10/Ladies 12 / Ladies 14 / Ladies 16 
Entry Fees
• Entry fee is $106.50 per candidate - which includes an event t-shirt.
